Terms of Use

Last updated October 10, 2026

These terms are between you and Odyssey Developments ("we", "us"). They cover the Lazarus macOS application ("Lazarus"), its optional multiplayer mode The Odyssey ("the Odyssey"), and this website. By downloading, installing or using any of them you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use them.

Part A: Lazarus and this website

1. Licence

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use Lazarus on Macs you own or control, for lawful purposes. The Lazarus IDE is free of charge, and we will not put the IDE behind a payment. You may not copy, modify or distribute Lazarus except as the law or an open-source licence allows; reverse engineer it except where the law permits; remove its notices; or use it to violate any law or anyone's rights. Third-party components are under their own licences; see Notices.

2. AI agents and your responsibilities

Lazarus is a front end for agents provided by other companies (Anthropic, xAI, Cursor, OpenAI and Google). We do not operate them.

  • You need your own accounts, keys and subscriptions. Those companies' terms, acceptable-use policies, fees and rate limits apply to your use, and you are responsible for complying with them.
  • Your content is sent to those companies as described in the Privacy Policy. You are responsible for having the right to send it, including code, personal data and confidential information.
  • Agents act on your files. Depending on the permission level you choose, an agent can read, create, change and delete files and run commands on your Mac, including git commit and git push. You are responsible for what you allow and for reviewing the results. Use version control and backups. "Full access" is risky.
  • AI output can be wrong, insecure, biased or infringing. Review and test it before you rely on it or ship it. You are responsible for the code you accept and for the licences that apply to it.
  • Usage meters, token tallies and "Saved" figures are estimates. Your provider's bill is the authority. Savings from the token saver depend on how you use it and are not guaranteed.

3. Your content

You keep all rights in your code, prompts and files. We claim no ownership of them and, in the IDE, we receive no copy. Who owns AI output is decided by your provider's terms and applicable law.

4. Third-party services

Features that rely on AI providers, GitHub, git remotes, ntfy, installers and similar services depend on them. We are not responsible for them, for changes to them, or for their outages, and Lazarus may stop working properly if they change. Product and company names belong to their owners; Lazarus is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by them.

5. Updates and availability

We may update, change, suspend or discontinue Lazarus or any feature at any time. Only the latest release receives security fixes.

6. No warranty

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lazarus, the Odyssey and this website are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy of AI output, or uninterrupted or error-free operation. Nothing here excludes warranties or consumer rights that cannot be excluded by law.

7. Limit of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, revenue, goodwill or business, including loss caused by actions agents take on your files. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of USD 50 and the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything that cannot be limited by law.

8. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you will indemnify us against third-party claims that result from your breach of these terms or from content you had no right to send or post.

9. Termination

You may stop using Lazarus at any time and delete it. We may end your licence or access if you materially breach these terms. Sections that by their nature should survive (including 6 to 8, 10 and the licences you grant us in Part B) do.

10. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and the state and federal courts located in Florida have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, you keep any mandatory rights and venue in your country of residence.

Part B: The Odyssey

These extra terms apply when you use the Odyssey. If they conflict with Part A, Part B wins for the Odyssey.

The Odyssey is coming soon and is not part of the current release. These terms describe how it will work when it launches, and pricing may be updated before then.

B1. Who may use it

You must be 18 or older and able to form a binding contract. You sign in with a GitHub account in good standing, or join as a guest with limited features. One person, one account: you are responsible for everything done through yours.

B2. Trial and the Odyssey Pass

  • The Odyssey is free for 30 days from the first time you open it. The trial does not renew, and it cannot be reset by reinstalling.
  • After the trial, some features require the Odyssey Pass, a one-time payment of US$29.99 (plus any tax shown at checkout). It is not a subscription and does not auto-renew.
  • "Lifetime" means for as long as we operate the Odyssey, not for your lifetime. If we permanently discontinue the Odyssey, we will tell you in the app and on this site first.
  • Payment is processed by Apple through the in-app purchase system, and Apple's terms and refund process apply. If something goes wrong with a purchase, email us and we will help. The Pass belongs to your GitHub login and cannot be transferred or resold.
  • The Lazarus IDE stays free and is never gated behind the Pass.

B3. Your Odyssey content and our licence

Your profile, startup, chat, messages, uploads, pitches and showcases are your "Odyssey content". You keep your rights in it. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, display and transmit it as needed to run the Odyssey and show it to other players as you configure it. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies in routine backups or that others have already received. You promise you have the rights to post what you post.

B4. Community rules

Be a good neighbour. You may not:

  • harass, threaten, bully, stalk or discriminate against anyone, or post hateful, sexually explicit, violent or illegal content;
  • impersonate a person, company or moderator, or misstate who you are or what you are building;
  • spam, run scams or phishing, advertise unrelated products, or ask for money or investment by deceptive means;
  • share other people's private information, or record or broadcast voice or meetings without every participant's consent;
  • upload malware, or use uploads or showcase pages to track, attack or mislead others;
  • use bots, scripts or modified clients; probe, scrape or overload the relay; evade rate limits, mutes, bans or the trial clock; or sell or trade access.

We may filter chat, mute, remove content, ban accounts, or restrict features, with or without notice, if we think these rules or the law are broken or the community is at risk. To appeal, email us.

B5. Reporting and takedowns

To report a person or content, or to ask us to remove material that infringes your copyright, email dev@odysseydevelopments.dev with the player's GitHub login, a description or link, and (for copyright) your contact details, the work infringed, the infringing material's location, and a statement under penalty of perjury that you are authorised to complain. We remove infringing content on valid notice and end the access of repeat infringers.

B6. Events, investors and meetings

  • Badges such as "verified" or "investor" only mean that we recognised a GitHub account or an application; they are not a licence, accreditation or endorsement. Do your own checks.
  • Nothing in the Odyssey is an offer to sell or a solicitation to buy securities, or investment, legal, tax or financial advice. Pitches are the presenters' own, and we do not vet them.
  • Hackathons, prizes, office hours, meetings and "real-life breaks" are run by their organisers. We are not a party to any arrangement made there. Meeting people in person is at your own risk.
  • Direct messages are not end-to-end encrypted and may be viewed by us when needed to run or protect the service. Do not send passwords or other secrets.

B7. Other people's content and services

The Odyssey shows content from other players and from third parties such as YouTube, Vimeo and Loom. We do not control or endorse it and are not liable for it. Seasonal items, flairs and virtual goods have no cash value, and we may change or retire them.

General

  • Export and sanctions. Do not use Lazarus where export-control or sanctions law forbids it. Lazarus uses only the standard HTTPS/TLS encryption provided by macOS.
  • Feedback. If you send ideas or feedback, you let us use them without obligation to you.
  • Website. Don't misuse this site, probe it for vulnerabilities outside good-faith security research, or copy its design or screenshots as your own. Screenshots show a sample project and scripted demo content.
  • Changes. We may update these terms. If a change is material we will say so in the release notes. Using Lazarus after a change takes effect means you accept it; if you disagree, stop using it.
  • Whole agreement; severability. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement. If a clause is unenforceable, the rest stays in force. Not enforcing a clause is not a waiver.
